Link: The Tao Of Dubya/Lao Tzu
as a follower of the way and a firm believer of it this excellent piece by William Thomas is
"right up my strasse" (as they say in old london town)
the bush quotes alone are worth a thousand words....but interestingly its the tao that takes centre stage for me because at the epicentre is mind-set...a different one to the catholic view of creation...
the creator 'makes' all things so no need (for example) to explore the science of biology
as is the case in American schools with the (banned) teaching of Darwins theory of evolution to Biology students!!....read that one again..Teachers in America are forbidden to explore the Theory of Evolution with biology students....its mind-blowing.
im certainly not here to undermine any-ones beliefs but i have to say that i find any notion of the creator as a physical reality very hard to accept and i would consider myself a man of faith.
for me nature is the life-force, driven by the various (paramagnetic) frequencys from the planets...and the tao is an observation of this..nature holds all the solutions to our problems and even though the science of observation (empiricism) understands this, for the past 100 years some individuals of dubious character have instead focused on making money rather than evolving awareness.
my conclusion is that philosophy is the language of change and drives innovation.
so, if according to Einstein
A problem cannot be solved by the mind-set that created it
then its time for a change.....and the ubiquitous paradigm-shift is in my view a move from the philosophy of the setting sun towards one of the rising sun....if you need more proof look into the business model of of Lean Thinking and the science of bio-mimicary, the foundations reach deep into the ideas of the Tao.
Jung once said that the western mind could never truly understand eastern philosophy due to mind-set. maybe that was the case but personally i believe in evolution of the mind as well as of the body and the tao makes perfect sense to me.....the supreme ultimate (tai-chi) is tao personified......watch the form flow, allways in motion, never stopping...instead conserving and building energy so as to direct it where it is most needed as in the 'law of least effort' or in western speak effective resource management!!
no prizes for guessing that i favour Eastern philosophy over Western although im not a disciple of either, preffering Triangulation or to put it another way
1+1=3
im going to finish on an extract from the Tao of Dubya - William Thomas -
Press query:
“Does the President believe that, given the amount of energy Americans consume per capita, how much it exceeds any other citizen in any other country in the world, does the President believe we need to correct our lifestyles to address the energy problem?”
Ari Fleischer:
“That’s a big no. The President believes that it’s an American way of life, and that it should be the goal of policy makers to protect the American way of life. The American way of life is a blessed one. And we have a bounty of resources in this country. What we need to do is make certain that we’re able to get those resources in an efficient way. . .The President also believes that the American people’s use of energy is a reflection of the strength of our economy, of the way of life that the American people have come to enjoy.”
Wearing fine clothes,
Bearing sharp swords,
Glutting with food and drink,
Hoarding wealth and possessions -
These are the ways of theft,
And far from the Way.
-Lao Tzu-
