heres something that i was fed by
some useless example of the so called knowledge economy.
not sure how many of you are aware of Business Link For London or what it proposes to do...my experience is that its all talk and no action.
its a classic example of this fraudulent listening and caring society that we are supposed to be enjoying in the UK under the Tony Blair party....i refrain from using the word Labour because in my view this government has nothing to do with socialism and everything to do with shiny white teeth, casual clothes and false promises.
Anyway enough of venting my anger lets move on to todays post...
Ive taken this directly off the business link site....
Ethnic minorities make up the majority of young entrepreneurs starting new businesses in London, a new study reveals.
Research from the London Development Agency (LDA), mayor Ken Livingstone's bureau for business and jobs, shows that 42% of the Capital's young business owners are non-white and 13% are non-British white, despite comprising less than a third of the population.
The study went on to show that young people are breaking social stereotypes even further. People under age 30 run one out of every 20 firms in London, the study found.
In London, young entrepreneurs account for 5% of the working population.
The report noted, however, that those young entrepreneurs most likely to start up are 'new Londoners', or those who were not born or did not attend school in the Capital.
New Londoners launch some 55% of London's start-up firms, the LDA said.
"This research shows how London is a magnet for young entrepreneurs from the UK and beyond," Livingstone said.
My favourite bit is the 'new londoners' !! described as those not born or attending school in the capital....and Kens quote on the significence of the statistics. I wonder whether those are the same statistics that tell us retail is experiencing an upsurge.
I suppose my point (if you need one) is this:
We are stuck in a recession the like of which hasnt been seen for many a year and the brown smelly stuff is millimetres away from hitting the proverbial fan...i know that the ubiquitous knowledge economy is just around the corner but the one ingredient missing from that stew is JOBS...its all well and good talking about knowledge being this milleniums holy grail and of course i can see value in it but what is the definition of knowledge?
because if its just the collection and presentation of statistics/opinion then i dont want to know
I would apreciate some comments on this one
